Your Voice, Fighting For The Families of District 5

Vote November, 2024

Why I’m Running

Changes are coming to the city of Orange! Our city is transitioning to district based elections, rather than at-large elections. This is exciting as I am a lifelong resident of District 5 and am truly invested in the fair representation of our District and the success of our city.

I want our District to have a seat at the table and make certain that our voices are heard. I believe a successful city is one that engages its public with transparency, open discourse, problem-solving, and a flow of communication that builds lasting relationships.

As a public school educator for the past 23 years, I have developed strong leadership skills that I will use to ensure that District 5 plays a key role in the decision making that makes our city thrive.

Orange is my home.

Volunteer

As your Orange City Councilmember for District 5, I will work for all residents in our community by:

  • Listening to the residents of District 5 to determine their needs and desires to reach positive outcomes
  • Focusing on issues that are prevalent in District 5 such as parking, traffic, gangs, graffiti, and crime
  • Working with fellow council members and staff to implement solutions to community concerns in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Battling new taxes and keeping our city fiscally accountable
  • Finding solutions to reinvigorate our business sector due to the current economic downturn as well as powering new growth
  • Protecting our neighborhoods and residents by supporting our law enforcement and fire personnel
  • Preserving, expanding, and protecting our open spaces, parks, and trails.

I believe a successful city is one that engages its public with transparency, open discourse, problem-solving, and a flow of communication that builds lasting relationships.

About Ana, Live Q&As, Virtual Meet & Greets, and Social Media Channels.

Ana is the youngest of eight children, raised and educated in the beautiful City of Orange. Born in Santa Ana, CA and raised in the “El Modena Barrio” of Orange, she attended Jordan Elementary School, McPherson Middle School, and graduated from El Modena High School. Ana’s Mother and Father are first generation Mexican immigrants who modeled the value of determination, strong work ethics, and a passion to give back to their community. This led Ana to receive a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, the first in her family to receive their MS. Ana and her husband Octavio continue to live in Orange, raising two children who currently attend OUSD schools and are learning to be responsible, educated and compassionate residents.

After college, Ana worked in the private sector as a financial advisor and then as a worker’s compensation adjuster. After leaving the private sector, she began her new career in the public sector as an elementary school educator, serving in many districts around Orange County. Ana has worked in LBUSD, OUSD and currently works in SAUSD.  She has taught 1st through 6th grade during her tenure, also working as a  Resource Teacher and an Elementary Assistant Principal. In her 23 years as an educator she has mastered skills necessary to be an effective leader, collaborator, and listener, all while balancing multiple perspectives and knowing that there is always more to learn. These skills have shaped her life as a community minded individual.

Ana is not a politician, nor aspires to be one, but a caring community member that loves her city and especially her district.  In her 53 years as a resident of District 5 she has seen it change and grow and would like to give back to her community that has inspired her to succeed.
